About the BID

OVERVIEW

On June 2, 2020, the Omaha City Council approved the North 24th Street Business Improvement District (BID) from Meredith Avenue to Cuming Street — the first of its kind in North Omaha.

The North 24th Street BID is the 2nd largest BID in the city of Omaha, covering 2.3 miles from North to South.

What Does a BID Do?

As outlined in the Nebraska State Legislature Statutes 19-4015 to 19-4038, a BID can plan, fund, and facilitate infrastructure projects, including:

Maintenance (e.g. litter removal, snow removal, weed control, graffiti abatement), Beautification (e.g. facade improvement, landscaping, streetscapes, historic signage), Promotion (e.g. events, district banners, wayfinding, marketing, tourism), parking (e.g. acquisition, operation of parking facilities), lighting (e.g. holiday lights, street lighting)

  • 192 commercial
  • 71 City of Omaha
  • 177 residential
  • 65 tax-exempt

*Includes owners with multiple properties within the defined area.
